BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS...
Anyhow, that pretty much occupied most of the weekend. After we played tennis on Saturday, we drove down to S.D. and spent the night so we could get an early start without having to make too early of a start. Friday night I saw SATC with the salad queens and we all really liked it. I'm so bummed we won't know if there will be another.
Last week I was in actually in NYC and luckily got out before the heat wave. It was the same last year when we went in June. However, I did not miss the heat in Boston. I got a bit roasted actually, as I wasn't expecting heat and sunshine (and I'm pretty sure most Bostonians weren't either) and didn't bring a hat to wear. Since I was in Boston, I was tempted to wear a Lakers shirt that weekend, but as my parents pointed out, I'd probably get my ass kicked, and God knows I don't have any muscles for fighting. My cousin has also mentioned how very over zealous the Bostonians are about their teams - she knows as she moved from NYC and occasionally wears her Yankees hat around. Unlike in other major cities where you just accept that a lot of people will be there from different places and supporting different teams, Boston appears to expect a homogenous sports society - Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots - nothing else. But then again... I was surprised to find that Boston was not as diverse as one would expect from a big city, so that is probably why. Boston was a nice town, I enjoyed walking around the city and the suburbs, but I think I pretty much saw everything there was to see in two days... and that's with a lot of snack and beverage (and by beverage I mean beer) stops due to the heat. Best thing: no sales tax on the clothes shopping! Woohoo.

EAST COAST SWING
On Sunday, we started in Boston's North End with some good Italian food and a tour of Paul Revere's house. All 3 rooms of it. That's a dollar per room folks. Afterwards, we walked down toward Faneuil Hall, Beacon Hill, and did some shopping on Newbury. No sales tax! Woohoo. We would intermittently stop for drinks and snacks as it was really hot, so we were stuffed by the time we went home, and skipped dinner. Of course, at 2 am absolutely starving, I got up to eat crackers we had left over from wine and cheese night.
Monday I was super tired from not being able to sleep, and ended up catching the 11:15 train instead of 9:15. That got me into NYC at around 2:45 and I went straight to work. After we finished setting up, we checked in and grabbed dinner at Benjamin's Steakhouse. Supposedly, Benjamin's was opened by a guy was the chef at Peter Lugar's, so it was pretty good steak. (Madison & 41st) Tonight we had dinner at China Grill with one of our clients. That was pretty good too! I'm always wary of fusion Asian places, but we had some yummy stuff.
After I get back, I decide I want to buy a couple bottles of water. I walk out to Madison and hang a right to go to Duane Reade's, but they're closed. I figure, 10 more blocks, I should come across CVS. 10 blocks and 2 avenues later, still no CVS. I decide I'll go one more block past my own before heading towards Madison.... still nothing... but once I'm nearly back to the hotel....there it is, a little grocery, 2 doors down, if I had only tuned left instead of right on Madisonn. Oh well, I needed the exercise anyway. Speaking of... I actually got up to run this morning... just did a mile around the neighborhood at 6:30... and the streets were already busy. Ended up sucking in a bunch of second hand and car fumes. Probably did more harm than good. No wonder they run in the park.
