Yep... that was me in and out of St. Louis yesterday. It's been a busy 7days. First, for July 4th, my dad and I played a little tennis in the morning, then we all went down to Laguna where they closed off the cul de sac and had a big block party. It was suburbia as you would imagine it. The neighbors lined up their grills, their tables and their tents, as well as their patio furniture on the street. They even lined up those little kiddie picnic tables. They rented a bouncy house, set up two bubble machines, and all of the kids' electric cars were free for anybody to ride. There were jeeps, convertibles, etc (this is Laguna after all). Someone even had a remote controlled skate board.
Thursday and Friday it was back to work. Let me tell you, that was THE LONGEST friday afternoon ever. EVER. Later that night, I went down to visit the guys and we went to Detroit with some others, where I danced my butt off with Lori. I was once again a sweaty pig, but actually a couple pounds lighter.
On Saturday after tennis, we went to the Carlsbad outlets where I scored 5 things from Banana for a total of twenty-something dollars! Woohoo. Afterwards, we went down to San Diego, where I visited the Rodriguezes in Palazzo Rodriguez. I got to try out their new pool and jacuzzi. More so the jacuzzi since it was getting cold by the time I got there as the sun was setting.
Monday night, I went out to dinner with some colleagues and one of the Nordstrom buyers after they played in a charity golf tournament at the Seacliff Country Club in Huntington Beach. We had dinner at Duke's, where I got the scampi, and I have to tell you... it was better than I expected.
Yesterday, I had to catch the 6:30 am flight to St. Louis. We landed some time past 11, go tour rental car, then went to our meeting from 1 to 5. I thought I was going to pass out at one point. No food besides my power bar and breakfast bar! I found salvation in the trusty vending machine. That's right. Saved by a three musketeers bar and a diet coke. We were booked on the 6:50 flight, so we had to make our way through rush our traffic, return the rental car, then check in. We managed to grab Burger King at the airport, but let me tell you, it is not fast food in the sense that it comes out fast. oooh no. They were slower than turtles on pot. However, when we got to our gate, our plane had just landed and was letting people out. They took about half an hour to clean it then started boarding. When we're finally all on board and ready to go (at least half an hour late), they tell us there is a suspicious leak they have to check out. So much for trying to make it to my grandma's 95th birthday dinner. We finally get home around 10:30 and I'm so tired, I can even ignore the fact that I'm starving and go to sleep. It's not easy being a jet setter. =P bahahahaha. j/k
